Fats for cosmetics

Cosmetics manufacturers appreciate our fats for their purity and consistent texture. They also often have specific requirements, such as a particular type of packaging or a smaller delivery, and we are able to meet them.

Fats for cosmetics

The high and consistent quality of our fats

  • Required values: For cosmetic applications, we typically supply fats with an acid value of 2 mg KOH/g or lower, which corresponds to approximately 1% free fatty acids (FFA). For the highest cosmetic grade, we also offer a specification of 1.2 mg KOH/g or lower (approximately 0.6% FFA). This ensures an ideal texture and excellent stability of your formulations.
  • Limits under control: We strictly adhere to the limits for insoluble impurities in accordance with regulatory guidelines. We are equally reliable in maintaining the acid value and other parameters according to the specifications you agree with us.

Safety and processing methods

  • Safety guaranteed: To ensure microbiological safety, we routinely test for pathogens (e.g. Salmonella).
  • Wet rendering: We process beef tallow and pork lard by wet rendering with steam, without adding any chemicals, and we do not use preservatives at all. This preserves the natural beneficial properties of the fats and minimizes impurities. The result is a smooth texture and an almost white color.
  • Compliance with EU regulations: Our beef tallow and pork lard comply with the Animal By-Products Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009, and we process them in an approved plant for Category 3 animal by-products under the supervision of the Czech State Veterinary Administration.

Applications of our fats in cosmetics

Animal fats are rich in fatty acids and vitamins, which have a nourishing effect on the skin. Their natural properties form a protective barrier on the skin’s surface, lock in moisture and prevent dryness. Tallow is commonly used in soaps, solid shampoos, balms and creams.

Key points for cosmetics manufacturers

  • High quality and consistency: To ensure consistent quality, we monitor the acid value, impurity limits and microbiological safety of our fats.
  • Documents with every delivery: Each shipment is accompanied by a commercial document for Category 3 animal by-products in accordance with Annex VIII to Regulation (EU) No 142/2011. For your formulations, we provide the INCI names: Tallow for beef tallow (in the EU also Adeps Bovis, EC 263-099-1) and Adeps Suillus for pork lard (EC 263-100-5), together with a Natural Origin Index of 100%.
  • Product safety: We use only Category 3 animal by-products as raw material.
  • Small volumes are no problem: The minimum order for rendered fats is 50 kg, i.e. one plastic drum certified for food contact. We will send you a free 1 kg sample to try, and we can also arrange a smaller trial order for your test production.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

For processed animal proteins, our standard MOQ is 1 ton (one Big Bag), and for rendered animal fats, it is 50 kg (typically for cosmetics manufacturers), but we also offer smaller trial orders for your test production. We provide bulk deliveries to pet food and biofuel manufacturers, as well as small orders for cosmetics manufacturers. To try it out, we will send you a free 1 kg sample.

What types of packaging does PEPITO use?

It depends on the product and the size of your order. To give you an idea, here is a typical packaging method based on shipment size and product type:

Rendered animal fats:

  • Small packages – for these, we most often choose 60- or 120-liter plastic drums certified for food contact, but other packaging can be selected by agreement. This packaging is typically chosen by customers in the cosmetics and chemical industries.
  • 210-liter steel drums (approx. 175 kg) – chosen by customers using the fat for technical purposes.
  • IBC containers – the happy medium for customers who need several hundred kilograms or a few tons of fat. This packaging is chosen, for example, by smaller feed manufacturers.
  • Tank trucks – ideal for large feed and biofuel manufacturers.

Into tankers the fat goes heated, so that it discharges at your site at a minimum of 60 °C. Into drums and smaller packaging it is dispatched chilled and solid.

Animal meal:

  • Big bag – a truck can be fully loaded with them (approx. 24 tons), but we also supply individual bags if you need a smaller volume, such as 6 tons, etc.
  • Tilt-top trailer (open-top, capacity approx. 24 tons) – ideal for larger deliveries, for example, to feed manufacturers.

What is the INCI label for PEPITO fats?

We use the term "Tallow" (in the EU also Adeps Bovis, EC 263-099-1) for beef tallow and "Adeps Suillus" (EC 263-100-5) for pork lard.

What is the Natural Origin Index (NOI) of the fats offered?

For both our beef tallow and pork lard, it is 100%.

What certifications do you have?

Quality and safety are the cornerstone of our production. We adhere to the HACCP traceability system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), and we hold ISO 9001:2015 certification and a veterinary certificate.
