At PEPITO, we understand the critical role that slaughterhouses, butchers, and meat processing plants play in the meat supply chain. These facilities are the starting point of the entire meat processing operation, where animals are slaughtered and divided into parts for various uses, including raw fat.

Slaughterhouses, butchers and meat processing plants

Slaughterhouses are essential to the meat processing chain, determining which parts of the animal will be used for food and which will be processed for other purposes. Raw fat is a valuable by-product generated in these facilities, and at PEPITO, we are keen to partner with slaughterhouses to procure this raw fat.

What type of Category 3 materials do you purchase?

Generally, fat free of tendons and skin, boneless, with a minimal amount of meat. Specifically, we purchase pork fat, beef fat, poultry fat, and mutton fat. We accept fat in frozen or chilled form..

What are the packaging and labeling requirements for the raw materials being supplied?

We provide our own containers (big boxes), which we deliver on a “full-for-empty” exchange basis. We will deliver empty big boxes to you and pick up the full ones using our own transport. We also accept frozen fat on pallets. Containers transporting Category 3 animal by-products must be clearly and legibly marked with the words “Not intended for human consumption.” They must also bear the label Category 3 animal by-product. For more information, please visit the European Union website.

What documents do you require for deliveries?

A commercial document is required when transporting animal by-products. Specific documentation requirements for Category 3 animal by-products can be found on the European Union website. You must also provide a CMR and an invoice. We’d be happy to assist you with all of this.

Is PEPITO interested only in regular deliveries, or in one-time deliveries as well?

Both. We offer both regular pickups and one-time collections, depending on the requirements and capabilities of individual suppliers. Naturally, we prefer long-term partnerships.

How is the price for purchased fat determined?

You won’t find a price list on our website, because prices are determined on a case-by-case basis and depend on the volume per delivery/pickup, the type of material, and, if applicable, the location (transportation costs). You will always be informed of the specific price in advance.

What are the payment terms and due dates?

At PEPITO, we take pride in meeting agreed-upon payment deadlines. We can set these deadlines based on an individual agreement at the start of our collaboration—if you have specific internal requirements regarding payment terms, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
