O-TRADE

A code for registered traders who buy and sell animal by-products without taking physical possession of the goods. It also covers forwarding agencies arranging the logistics and administration of transport, but only for export to and import from countries outside the EU.

O-TRADE is a code from the lists of approved and registered establishments handling animal by-products (ABPs); in the Commission technical specifications it appears as TRADE. It identifies a trader who buys and sells the goods but never physically holds them. The material goes directly from the supplier to the customer.

What the code covers

  • Trading without physical possession: the trader arranges the purchase and sale of ABPs and is responsible for regulatory compliance, but has no storage or processing facility of their own. This applies to trade within the EU as well.
  • Forwarding agencies: they arrange the logistics and administration of transport. For them the code is used only for export to and import from countries outside the EU.
