FATOT
This is how European legislation designates rendered fats and fish oil for purposes other than animal feed or for processing in fat plants, i.e. in industrial plants specializing in the processing of animal fats, such as the cosmetics industry.
Rendered fats and fish oil for purposes other than for feeding or for oleochemical purposes (FATOT) are, in addition to the usual industries such as biofuels or animal feed, also used for other, less common applications.
Mainly used in industries such as:
| Cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry | Rendered fats are an important ingredient in soap making. Fish oils are used in cosmetic products and dietary supplements for their high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for skin health, as well as overall health. Animal fats are used in cosmetics to make soaps, creams and other body care products. |
